The Start Page is like your default home page and will open in the first tab by default unless you change it. All versions of Microsoft Visual Studio use a tabbed interface in much the same way as a modern Web browser. When you launch VB 2010 Express, you’ll be presented with a Start Page similar to what’s shown in Figure 1. On the plus side, Microsoft does not restrict what you do with any of the Express editions, meaning you can develop a commercial application and distribute it just as you would with any of their “professional” tools. What’s missing are some of the features specifically targeted at team development. What you get when you’re done is essentially the same integrated development environment (IDE) you get with the full Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 product.
